I purchased around 7 ROKR products recently and have assembled all of Them. Every model is unique and very informative. Its the best way to utilize your free time especially these days when the whole world in on a lock down. The Spring system needs a bit improvement as it didn’t work well in some models like Locomotive. The steel shafts are very durable against the wooden poles which are provided in U-Gears model. The Fillers are also of good quality. The mechanism behind the Clock is very good and if done as per the manual, the chances of errors are almost NIL. It surely is a fun project and a very good gift idea to a person of any age.

I got this clock yesterday and spent 3 hours piecing it together. It was really easy (even under the influence of alcohol) thanks to the clear instructions – except for the bit regarding waxing the pendulum/escape wheel bits, I didn’t understand the images at all.
However, it wouldn’t keep running for more than a few seconds and even the ‘troubleshooting’ tips in the back of the manual didn’t help. The tips suggested it was a leveling issue, however, it was the lack of rigidness in the pendulum assembly. Gluing the assembly together fixed my issue. Wound it up 2 hours ago, it’s still going strong 🙂
Very happy with the result, it was a fun kit 🙂
PS. Think about coloring in certain wheels, before assembling the clock … I spend 2 hours today, taking the clock apart, to give it some nice details 😉

Got my clock kit just before Christmas. It took me all most a full week of working a little every day to finish the assembly. Finally figured out that because the surface it was sitting wasn’t perfectly flat and raised the one side to level it out and it has started to run. Another problem was the slight warping in the pendulum shaft. Took the time too sand off 2 of the 3 pegs that hold the back plate and I now can get the clock to run for up to three hours.

A bit of a challenge assembling due to the ‘IKEA’ instructions (pictures, few words). Luckily I’m a retired engineer and lifelong clock and watch fan. With a bit of lubrication and adjusting the shafts and gears it should run longer than the first time (35 minutes). I started the pendulum and marked the 4th stage gear with a small dot. It stopped in the same place so there is some piece hanging up. All in all, a really fun project.

I got this clock for Christmas this year. I am really looking forward to putting it together. I have been looking for a forum to ask questions but have been unsuccessful. I was thinking of staining the pieces using three different colors of stain. Does anyone know if this will harm the pieces? Or does anyone know if there is a better place to ask these types of questions? Any help would be GREAT!!
